Molten Metal Systems

Suprex

Suprex® crucibles are carbon-bonded silicon carbide crucibles, which are characterised by excellent thermal conductivity and high chemical erosion resistance. Based on application and furnace type respective types of Suprex® are available.

Applications

Suprex® B: Recommended for copper and copper alloys in fuel fired furnaces.

Suprex® R: Recommended for aluminium/aluminium alloys melting and zinc oxide producing in fuel fired furnaces.

Suprex® E: Recommended for aluminium/aluminium alloys and zinc melting and holding in electric resistance furnaces.

Suprex® Typical Metal Casting Temperature

Suprex® B 800°C - 1400°C (1472°F - 2550°F).

Suprex® R 700°C - 1000°C (1292°F - 1830°F).

Suprex® E 450°C - 900°C (842°F - 1652°F).

Suprex® E - Plus 450°C - 900°C (842°F - 1652°F).

Performance Characteristics

  • Fast melting speed through high consistent thermal conductivity.
  • Excellent thermal shock resistance.
  • High resistance to oxidation.
  • Good erosion resistance.
  • Good resistance to corrosive attack by chemical treatment agents.
